About the role#
This 11-week internship program builds a foundation of retail knowledge and exposes you to store leadership opportunities. It serves as an initial step toward an accelerated career path at Meijer. During the first half of the program, you will gain leadership competencies. In the second half, you will step into an Intern Team Leader role to manage business results, team engagement, and the customer experience. This role is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily operations.
- Mentor and coach team members to help them meet sales and service goals.
- Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
- Maintain store appearance and ensure a positive company image.
- Support your department in managing the P&L and maintaining shrink.
- Model exceptional, friendly service while promoting a safe work environment.
- Complete impactful projects and deliver final presentations to senior executives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Business Administration.
- A passion for retail and a genuine interest in store leadership.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
- A drive for results and the ability to make informed decisions using data.
- Prior retail experience or past leadership roles in work or extracurricular activities are strongly preferred.
