About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while completing your pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with patient care, inventory, and daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Affix labels to prescription containers and prepare medications.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and monthly inventory counts.
- Report medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information.
- Counsel customers and interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Experience of six months or less in similar work is preferred.
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
- Ability to count, pour, package, and label medications.
