About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You will join the Store Labor team to improve operational productivity, capacity, and efficiency. The program lasts 11 weeks and includes professional development, networking events, and an executive speaker series.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain engineered labor standards through time and motion studies.
- Optimize processes and create detailed documentation.
- Collaborate with store operations and scheduling teams to build Standard Operating Procedures.
- Use industrial engineering concepts to forecast budgets based on sales, customer counts, and item movement.
- Provide labor-based estimates for new business ventures.
- Assess the human and organizational impacts of operational changes.
- Deliver a final presentation to senior executives at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- A 3.0+ GPA is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a drive for results.
- Ability to build positive relationships with team members and leadership.
- Clear communication skills and attention to detail.
- Prior experience with engineered standards and labor budgeting is a plus.
