About the role#
Marine Solutions, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This full-time, paid position is located in Newark, New Jersey. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain practical experience in the infrastructure and construction industry. You will perform your duties under the direction of a Project Engineer who provides guidance and reviews your work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with various engineering tasks, assignments, and design work.
- Prepare for and conduct field inspections.
- Perform data reduction and engineering analyses.
- Prepare reports, studies, and related technical documents.
- Participate in technical review meetings.
- Review engineering plans and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering program, with a preference for structural or geotechnical focus.
- 0-4 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of higher-level mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus.
- Familiarity with construction practices, such as concrete, steel, carpentry, and welding.
- Proficiency in technical writing and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work as a self-starter and independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Current medical certifications in bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen if performing fieldwork.
- Preferred: AutoCAD proficiency and experience with engineering software.

- Compensation: $25 to $28 per hour, depending on education and experience.
