About the role#
Marine Solutions is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern to assist with project tasks and gain practical experience in the construction industry. You will work under the direction of senior engineers who provide guidance and review your work to ensure it meets engineering standards. This role involves both office-based assignments and fieldwork.
What you'll do#
- Perform inspections under the guidance of higher-level engineers.
- Prepare reports, studies, and related project documents.
- Conduct data reduction and engineering analyses.
- Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
- Review engineering plans and studies.
- Assist with design tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering program, with a preference for structural or geotechnical focus.
- Knowledge of higher-level mathematics including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus.
- Understanding of construction practices such as concrete, steel, carpentry, and welding.
- Proficiency in technical writing and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Current medical certifications in bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration.
- 0-4 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering software experience.
