About the role#
Marine Solutions is hiring a Civil Engineer Intern to work on infrastructure and construction projects. You will work under the direction of a Project Engineer to learn practical engineering skills. This role involves both office tasks and field inspections. You will contribute to real-world projects while gaining exposure to the marine engineering industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with various engineering tasks and assignments.
- Prepare for and conduct field inspections.
- Perform data reduction and engineering analyses.
- Prepare reports, studies, and related project documents.
- Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
- Review engineering plans and studies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0-4 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of construction practices including concrete, steel, carpentry, and welding.
- Proficiency in technical writing and basic computer functions like Microsoft Office.
- Ability to apply higher-level mathematics like trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus to engineering computations.
- Current medical certifications including bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration for fieldwork.
- You are a self-starter who can work independently.
- Preferred: Curriculum focus in structural or geotechnical engineering, AutoCAD proficiency, and experience with engineering software.
Location & details#
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, rolling term.
- Compensation: $23 to $25 per hour, based on education and experience.
- This position requires the ability to walk in rugged conditions and work in adverse weather during field assignments. Travel within the continental U.S. may be required.
