About the role#
The HESS Talent Pathways Program offers an Associate Process Safety Professional position designed for interns transitioning into full-time roles. You will work within the Marathon Petroleum organization to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain safety standards across operations.
What you'll do#
- Lead process safety programs and advise on the application of internal and external standards.
- Conduct and coordinate hazard risk identification activities, such as PHA, LOPA, and Management of Change.
- Collaborate with facility personnel to close safety recommendations and resolve operational issues.
- Communicate and mitigate safety risks across the organization.
- Develop and deliver safety training for various stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Track safety metrics, analyze trends, and prepare reports.
- Coordinate compliance audits and support facilities during regulatory inspections.
- Participate in industry groups to share and learn safety practices.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering, or a related HES field with no prior experience.
- Alternatively, a High School diploma or GED with 5 years of relevant experience in the process industry.
- Successful completion of a Marathon Petroleum HESS internship.

- Employment is based on a rolling term.
