About the role#
As a Concept Design & Integration / Visual Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the development of innovative merchandising concepts and visual experiences. You will work alongside Store Merchandising professionals and cross-functional partners to explore how design, product presentation, space, and customer experience create retail environments. This 10-week summer program focuses on translating creative concepts and business strategies into solutions for the in-store experience.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of visual merchandising concepts and innovative store experiences.
- Collaborate with partners across Store Merchandising, Store Operations, Marketing, Design, and Space Planning.
- Evaluate store environments to identify opportunities for improved visual consistency, navigation, and product storytelling.
- Develop visual concepts, presentations, mockups, and other materials to communicate design ideas.
- Conduct research and analyze retail, customer, and design trends to inform your work.
- Balance creative concepts with operational feasibility and business requirements.
- Receive feedback from stakeholders and incorporate insights into your designs.
- Learn how retail concepts move from initial ideas through development and in-store execution.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Visual Merchandising, Retail Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and cross-functional environment.
- Preferred: 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design and visualization tools.
- Preferred: Experience developing presentations, renderings, mockups, or prototypes through academic or professional projects.
- Preferred: A portfolio or examples of relevant design work.

- This internship is based on-site at the Lowe’s Store Support Center in Mooresville, North Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
