About the role#
7-Eleven is seeking a Construction Project Manager Intern to support the New Store Development team. This summer internship offers hands-on experience in the planning, budgeting, and execution of new-to-industry convenience store construction projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical knowledge of the construction lifecycle, from preconstruction through final delivery. This is a full-time, 11-week program based in Irving, Texas, that includes a project presentation to leadership, store tours, and a cross-functional lunch series.
What you'll do#
- Assist with reviewing construction plans, specifications, and project documents to develop cost estimates and evaluate subcontractor bids.
- Support the development and tracking of construction schedules to ensure key milestones are met.
- Help establish project budgets, track costs, and review invoices and change orders.
- Collaborate with construction managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to support project execution.
- Participate in site visits to observe construction progress, site logistics, and quality control.
- Maintain project trackers and prepare status reports.
- Identify potential construction challenges and help implement solutions.
- Look for opportunities to improve project coordination and cost tracking processes.
- Gain exposure to how construction relates to real estate, design, permitting, and procurement.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize deadlines.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and collaborate across disciplines.
- Ability to participate in construction site visits.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling or estimating software is a plus.
