About the role#
As a Radiology Technologist Student at North Alabama Medical Center, you will perform diagnostic radiographic examinations while under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist. This position follows JRCERT guidelines and requires a flexible work schedule. You will serve a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric patients.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine diagnostic imaging studies and produce high quality images.
- Explain procedures to patients to help relieve their anxiety.
- Ensure patient examinations are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Handle patient positioning, computer entries, and filming.
- Maintain exam accuracy by verifying minimum views, labeling, patient history, and proper shielding.
- Minimize patient radiation exposure and maintain a safe work area free from hazards.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or supply issues to your supervisor.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnostic radiology procedures.
- Learn and apply current imaging techniques to improve efficiency and image quality.
- Interact with patients, physicians, and staff in a pleasant and helpful manner.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor, Diploma, or Associate Degree program in Radiologic Technology with verification from your school.
- BLS certification.
- Knowledge of anatomy, image quality, radiographic positioning, and technique.
- Understanding of radiation safety, infection control, and quality control techniques.
