About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training in electrical design for building projects. You will work with engineers and designers to develop electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and controls. The role involves supporting the design team on new construction and renovation projects.
What you'll do#
- Learn and apply electrical system basics such as power distribution, lighting, and controls.
- Produce detailed layouts and equipment details for building electrical systems.
- Create one-line diagrams and schematics.
- Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of construction drawings.
- Work with engineers to develop various aspects of a project.
- Perform data collection or field verification at project sites.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- A strong interest in building systems electrical engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work full time throughout the co-op term.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred.
- Ability to travel locally for job site inspections and field work.
Location & details#
- Location: Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid position eligible for overtime pay.
