About the role#
LAPORTE is looking for a civil or construction engineering student to join our structure team. You will support the design and completion of structural solutions for industrial projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will contribute to technical documentation, structural calculations, and design tasks based on your current level of study.
What you'll do#
- Design structures for buildings and industrial facilities, including steel and concrete elements, foundations, mezzanines, and equipment supports.
- Perform structural calculations and verifications under the supervision of an engineer.
- Model and analyze structural components using team tools.
- Prepare sketches, drawings, and structural details for construction plans.
- Develop typical details, assemblies, and interfaces.
- Coordinate with technicians and drafters to integrate design data into drawings.
- Maintain calculation notes, plans, and material lists.
- Learn relevant codes, standards, and design criteria.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines including process, mechanical, and electrical teams.
- Visit job sites for technical surveys and project follow-ups.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in civil, construction, or building engineering, ideally in your third or fourth year.
- Interest in designing industrial building structures, specifically steel and concrete.
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings.
- Strong attention to detail, rigor, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in French.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or structural analysis software is an asset.
- Familiarity with statics, strength of materials, or structural analysis is an asset.
