About the role#
Dewberry is looking for a Structural (Rail Bridge) Engineering Intern to join our Transit and Freight Rail Practice in Bloomfield, New Jersey. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work alongside our engineering team on transit and freight rail projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural analysis and design for bridges and ancillary structures.
- Develop structural plans and construction cost estimates.
- Perform field inspections of bridges under the guidance of qualified inspectors.
- Assist with load rating calculations for bridges.
- Gain exposure to construction support services.
- Participate in company workshops, networking events, and a summer-long group project.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on Structural or Rail Engineering.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A desire to work in a team environment.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
- Experience with MS Office and CADD software, such as MicroStation or AutoCAD, is preferred.

- Pay: $18.75 to $29.75 per hour.
