About the role#
We are hiring a Construction Inspector Aide Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in Tampa, Florida, and requires on-site work. You will support engineering investigations and planning by completing defined tasks and assisting senior field staff.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze data using established procedures.
- Perform routine calculations and evaluate the feasibility of alternate solutions.
- Observe construction activities to ensure work aligns with contract plans and specifications.
- Report observed deficiencies to senior field staff.
- Sample and test construction materials including soil, concrete, and asphalt.
- Verify rebar placement, concrete mixtures, pile driving counts, and drainage structure placement.
- Write daily inspection and weather reports.
- Maintain records and track field measurements of installed quantities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Civil Engineering.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours toward your degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
- Ability to perform basic math and understand contract plans.
- Skill in taking legible notes and following directions.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labor and carry up to 60 lbs.
