About the role#
We are looking for a Machinist Co-op Student to join our team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work alongside licensed machinists and CNC programmers to gain practical experience in subtractive manufacturing. This role helps you apply classroom theory to real-world precision production tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist in setting up and operating manual machines like lathes, mills, and drill presses, as well as introductory CNC machinery.
- Use precision measuring tools to inspect finished parts against design tolerances.
- Read and interpret technical engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Deburr, clean, and prepare machined parts for quality control sign-off.
- Maintain a safe shop environment by cleaning machinery, managing coolant levels, and organizing tooling.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited program focusing on Machining, such as Mechanical Technician, Tool and Die, or CNC programming.
- Basic shop math skills.
- A foundational understanding of cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
- A professional approach characterized by punctuality and a strict commitment to wearing required PPE, such as steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
