About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware. This role involves working on tactical satellite equipment, including surface mount technology solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work alongside senior engineers to help transition new products from engineering to production.
What you'll do#
- Create work instructions, process procedures, and assembly routings.
- Design, develop, and qualify manufacturing tools and equipment.
- Implement engineering changes and maintain labor standards and process controls.
- Assist with new product introductions, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams to coordinate new product releases.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling requirements.
- Analyze manufacturing plans and perform economic analyses to address variances in labor and cycle times.
- Attend daily shift huddles and support product line key performance indicators.
- Oversee non-conformance reviews and implement corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with basic CAD software.
- A basic understanding of 3D printing.
- Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification is preferred.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule (80 hours worked over 9 days with every other Friday off).
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
