About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware for Tactical Satellite equipment. This includes working on SMT solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work alongside senior engineers to help transition products from development into full production.
What you'll do#
- Write work instructions and develop process procedures.
- Qualify new tools and equipment for the production line.
- Oversee non-conformance reviews and manage engineering changes.
- Maintain labor standards and process controls.
- Assist with new product introductions and root-cause investigations.
- Design and develop manufacturing tools and strategies.
- Estimate costs and determine time standards for product lines.
- Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams to move products from Engineering to Production.
- Analyze manufacturing plans and projects.
- Perform economic analyses to track labor and cycle time variances.
- Participate in daily shift huddles and support product line KPIs.
- Implement corrective actions to address non-conformances.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Familiarity with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Experience with CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo is a plus.
- A basic understanding of 3D printing.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification is helpful.
- Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.

- Schedule: This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship.
- Work schedule: Employees work 10-hour days, 4 days a week.
