About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware for Tactical Satellite equipment. You will work on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah, assisting with SMT solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams to move products from engineering to production.
What you'll do#
- Establish work instructions, develop process procedures, and implement engineering changes.
- Qualify new tools and equipment while maintaining labor standards and process controls.
- Assist senior engineers with new product introductions, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Design and transfer manufacturing tools, strategies, and systems.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling requirements.
- Perform economic analyses to identify and address variances in labor and cycle times.
- Attend daily shift huddles and support product line key performance indicators.
- Oversee non-conformance reviews and implement corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- A basic understanding of 3D printing.
- Experience with statistical software like Minitab or JMP.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification is preferred.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule, totaling 80 hours over 9 days with every other Friday off.
- Employment Status: Full-time internship.
