About the role#
This graduate internship focuses on advancing quantum sensing, communications, and information processing through experimental work. You will work in a laboratory environment that combines quantum physics, photonics, and engineering analysis.
What you'll do#
- Design and execute experiments on quantum photonic devices and system concepts.
- Develop measurement approaches and assess data quality, uncertainty, and observed behavior.
- Apply quantum mechanics, optics, and engineering analysis to interpret results and plan follow-on experiments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and validate quantum-photonic designs at the subsystem and system levels.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Science and Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with AMO quantum platforms, such as Rydberg-atom sensing, ultracold neutral-atom systems, or entanglement-enabled quantum systems.
- Proficiency with optical, electronic, RF, timing, or data-acquisition instrumentation.
- Data-analysis experience using Python, MATLAB, or comparable tools.
- A strong foundation in quantum mechanics, quantum optics, or electromagnetics.
- Practical experience through experimental research, previous internships, or substantial projects in quantum optics, sensing, communications, or information processing.
Location & details#
- Location: Palm Bay, Florida.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule, which includes 80 hours worked over 9 days with every other Friday off.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
