About the role#
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to software development. You will work within a cross-functional engineering team to build and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software. This role involves working on embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment.
What you'll do#
- Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing.
- Develop software test procedures, programs, and related documentation.
- Use modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
- Participate in peer reviews to identify, track, and repair software defects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor, Master, or PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Information Security, Mathematics, Digital Arts and Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience with the software development life cycle.
- Ability to develop software test procedures and programs.
- Familiarity with embedded software for real-time control.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, JEE, HTML5, XML, SQL, Qt, Windows.NET, Unix, Linux, SOA, RTOS, Real-Time Controls, Wireless, Software Security, Robotics, OOA/OOD, Hadoop, Android, or Embedded Systems.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Herndon, Virginia.
- This is an on-site, full-time internship.
- The schedule follows a 9/80 format, where you work 80 hours over 9 days and have every other Friday off.
- Compensation is $29.00 to $53.50 per hour.
