About the role#
The Enterprise Application Support Team at Space Dynamics Laboratory is looking for a student to assist with business application development. You will work alongside professional software engineering staff to receive on-the-job training and mentorship. This role is part of the Student Scholar Program, which provides technical workshops, outreach activities, and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Write clean, consistent, and well-documented code.
- Implement, test, and maintain software for internal customers.
- Ensure all code meets specific end-user requirements.
- Collaborate with other developers to integrate new projects with existing systems.
- Provide operational support for current applications.
- Interface with program team members, technical writers, and engineering technicians.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Utah State University as a student majoring in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
- At least one year of school remaining.
- U.S. citizenship or status as a lawful permanent resident.
- Ability to work independently with mentoring and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency or a desire to improve skills in programming languages, SQL, relational databases, and software development processes like version control and peer reviews.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: North Logan, Utah.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 15-20 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Term: Rolling.
About Space Dynamics Laboratory
Space Dynamics Laboratory is a nonprofit organization established in 1959 and headquartered in North Logan, Utah. With a staff of between 1,001 and 5,000 employees, the entity functions as a University Affiliated Research Center for Utah State University. The laboratory specializes in the development of small satellites, electro-optical sensors, ground stations, and data calibration systems for the defense and space manufacturing sectors. Its personnel manage projects through the entire lifecycle, ranging from initial design to final mission delivery.
