About the role#
As a Supply Chain Intern with Kiewit, you will gain hands-on experience in procurement to support our construction operations. You will work across areas including estimating, contracts, quality, purchasing, logistics, and material management. This role provides an opportunity to develop skills needed for a career in supply chain management while contributing to our construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Purchase materials at the lowest possible cost while meeting specifications and drawing requirements.
- Maintain records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, reliability, and production capabilities.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure compliance and determine needs for changes.
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Design and present an end-of-program presentation to showcase your work and development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- A genuine interest in the field of purchasing and procurement.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer months, typically May through August.
- Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous customer service or leadership experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented approach with effective time management skills.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site.
- You must be willing to travel and relocate as needed.
- Potential assignment locations include Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Westlake, TX; and Peachtree, GA.
