About the role#
This internship is exclusive to U.S. military members currently serving on active duty who are eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Program. This is an unpaid internship where you remain an employee of the DoD. Graduates of the program who are later hired into full-time roles as an Assistant Superintendent, Junior Estimator, or Project Engineer in New York City can expect a salary range of $65,000 to $90,000.
What you'll do#
Depending on your placement, you will support field operations, estimating, or project administration. Common responsibilities across these roles include:
- Assisting with trade coordination and material tracking.
- Managing site logistics and safety compliance.
- Supporting overall site operations.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and subcontractor bids.
- Managing document control and shop drawing systems.
- Helping maintain the flow of information between design teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
What you'll need#
- You must have served at least 180 days on active duty.
- You must be eligible to participate during the final six months of service prior to separation or retirement.
- You must be expected to receive an honorable discharge.
- You must have completed the Transition Assistance Program.
- You must have attended an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
- You need written authorization from your Unit Commander to participate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience with Procore or Microsoft Project is helpful.
- We welcome candidates with backgrounds in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Environmental Engineering, or Logistics.
