DoD SkillBridge Internship: Construction Management

About the role#

This is an exclusive opportunity for U.S. military members currently serving on active duty to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program. This internship serves as a pipeline for potential roles as an Assistant Superintendent, Junior Estimator, or Project Engineer. Participants remain employees of the DoD and receive their compensation and benefits through the DoD.

What you'll do#

Depending on the assigned track, responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with trade coordination and site logistics
• Tracking materials and maintaining safety compliance
• Supporting overall site operations
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and subcontractor bids
• Assisting with scope comparisons and bid submissions
• Managing document control and shop drawing systems
• Supporting project cost and scheduling systems

What you'll need#

• Must have served at least 180 days on active duty
• Eligibility to participate during the final six months of military service prior to separation or retirement
• Expected to receive an honorable discharge
• Completion of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP/TGPS)
• Participation in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
• Written authorization from a Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander)
• Demonstrated interest in construction management or the construction industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with Microsoft Project and Procore is preferred
• Academic background in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Environmental Engineering, or Logistics

• Compensation: This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program. Graduates hired into roles in New York City may be eligible for a salary range of $65,000 to $90,000.
