About the role#
This is a part-time student position based at the John Deere Parts Distribution Center in Milan, Illinois. The role offers hands-on engineering experience within a manufacturing and distribution environment, focusing on warehouse operations and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Provide engineering support to various warehouse departments, regional distribution centers, and operations staff.
- Support engineering projects aimed at improving key business metrics.
- Use data tools to analyze warehouse processes, data, and performance metrics.
- Design warehouse layouts to optimize material flow and storage density.
- Assist with the integration of new systems and processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at a local accredited university, pursuing a degree in Computer, Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
- A graduation date of May 2029 or later.
- Availability to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 35-40 hours per week during the summer semester.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with engineering tools and software such as AutoCAD, Minitab, Solidworks, or Creo is preferred.
- Familiarity with programming languages like SQL or Python and data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- This position is paid and requires the ability to commute to the work location on scheduled days. Please note that this role is not available to students on immigration visas.
