About the role#
This internship provides students with hands-on experience in the development of electric drive components and systems. You will work on projects that support the design, analysis, and testing of technologies used on vehicles worldwide. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of electric machines, including design, analysis, and testing of permanent magnet motors.
- Work on power electronics hardware development, such as inverters, converters, and chargers.
- Assist with control systems for motor drives and converters, including simulation, algorithm implementation, and system testing.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your junior year of studies by the start of the internship.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- Experience with electric machines, power electronics, or electric vehicle systems.
- Proficiency with modeling tools like Matlab/Simulink or circuit analysis software.
- Familiarity with symbolic programming languages such as Simulink or LabView.
- Hands-on experience testing electrical components using standard lab equipment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Willingness to travel and relocate to any John Deere location in the U.S.
- Majors in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
