About the role#
Jackson EMC is hiring an Engineering Intern to provide staking support to the District Engineering Department. This role focuses on data acquisition, record keeping, and maintaining a reliable electric distribution system. You will work under the direction of the District Engineering Supervisor to assist with technical projects and administrative tasks.
What you'll do#
- Gather field notes to develop construction work orders.
- Draw construction work orders within the company software system.
- Coordinate and schedule construction work order inspections.
- Create and maintain database and spreadsheet applications.
- Enter locate tickets using the 811 center software.
- Assist engineers with maintaining Engineering Manuals and one-lines.
- Provide support for the Outage Management System during extended outages.
- Reconcile work orders and verify material accounting.
- Assist the warehouse team during inventory periods.
- Participate in special technical projects and attend safety meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Associate or Bachelor degree program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Basic working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Fundamental mathematical and engineering aptitude.
- Ability to navigate an Outage Management System.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
