About the role#
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking Electrical Engineering students for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid internship provides hands-on experience within the Pulp & Paper Division, supporting operations in Saint John and Utopia, New Brunswick. This role is on-site.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with contractors and mill personnel to determine scope, plan, and execute work packages for mill operations.
- Develop detailed scopes of work for installations, including scan card access systems, 120 V to 600 V temporary construction power, and IT infrastructure such as wireless access points, switches, and cameras.
- Oversee the installation of low to medium voltage electrical equipment, building services components, and instrumentation while monitoring safety, quality, budget, and schedule.
- Assist systems engineers with the maintenance, programming, and configuration of mill control systems.
- Utilize software including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and document management systems.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and in good academic standing.
- A team-oriented mindset with a focus on safety.
- Ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A long-term interest in pursuing an engineering career.
