Electrical Engineering Student

About the role#

J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking Electrical Engineering students for the Fall 2026 work term within the Pulp & Paper Division. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Saint John or Utopia, New Brunswick.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with contractors and mill personnel to determine scope, plan, and execute work packages for mill operations.
• Develop detailed scopes of work for installations, including scan card access systems, 120 V – 600 V temporary construction power, and IT connections such as wireless access points, switches, and cameras.
• Oversee the installation of low to medium voltage electrical equipment, building services components, and instrumentation while monitoring job quality, safety, schedule, and budget.
• Assist Systems Engineers with the maintenance, programming, and configuration of Mill Control Systems.
• Utilize software including AutoCAD, PowerPoint, Excel, and document management systems.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and in good academic standing.
• A team-oriented approach with a safety-first mindset.
• Ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• A long-term interest in pursuing an engineering career.
