The Economic Empowerment Intern supports the Workforce Development Team in providing employment services and case management to help clients achieve self-sufficiency. This role involves direct client interaction, administrative support, and research to facilitate job placement and career development for refugees and immigrants.
What you'll do#
- Support the Workforce Development Team with caseload management and employment services.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with clients to set employment or education goals and create action plans.
- Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, as well as interview preparation.
- Monitor client progress and maintain accurate records in case notes and spreadsheets.
- Research employment and vocational training opportunities within New Jersey.
- Identify and refer clients to relevant direct assistance programs and internal services.
- Communicate effectively with clients in person and via telephone.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to organizational privacy policies.
What you'll need#
- Bilingual ability is required, preferably in Spanish or Haitian Creole; proficiency in Arabic, Dari/Farsi, or Pashto is also considered.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; current college students will be considered.
- Prior experience in job development, job readiness programming, or social service work with immigrants and refugees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds and varying English language skills.
