    About the role#

    The Economic Empowerment Intern supports the Workforce Development Team in providing employment services and case management to help clients achieve self-sufficiency. This role involves direct client interaction, administrative support, and research to facilitate job placement and career development for refugees and immigrants.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the Workforce Development Team with caseload management and employment services.
    • Conduct one-on-one meetings with clients to set employment or education goals and create action plans.
    • Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, as well as interview preparation.
    • Monitor client progress and maintain accurate records in case notes and spreadsheets.
    • Research employment and vocational training opportunities within New Jersey.
    • Identify and refer clients to relevant direct assistance programs and internal services.
    • Communicate effectively with clients in person and via telephone.
    • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to organizational privacy policies.

    What you'll need#

    • Bilingual ability is required, preferably in Spanish or Haitian Creole; proficiency in Arabic, Dari/Farsi, or Pashto is also considered.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred; current college students will be considered.
    • Prior experience in job development, job readiness programming, or social service work with immigrants and refugees.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds and varying English language skills.

    • Commitment: Full-time.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
