About the role#
This eight-month co-op position offers the opportunity to work on custom silicon solutions alongside experienced engineers. You will gain hands-on experience in integrated circuit design and testing, ranging from custom modules to full SoCs. This is a full-time, paid internship role.
What you'll do#
- Write software that interacts directly with hardware, including microcode, IP-specific firmware, FPGAs, and DSPs.
- Design and implement interfaces that abstract low-level hardware details for higher levels of firmware and software.
- Conduct design and code reviews.
- Test and validate product implementations.
- Collaborate across disciplines and take ownership of tasks to drive issues to completion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in C programming and system software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of embedded systems, digital ASIC design, and firmware testing methods is an asset.
- Experience with C++, Rust, System C, Python, or domain-specific language modeling is preferred.
- Understanding of processors, servers, and system software architecture.
- Knowledge of SoC architecture, subsystem architecture, IP architecture, or microarchitecture.

- Term: Winter 2027 (beginning January 2027).
- Work Modality: This is a fully remote role based in Canada. You must live and work in Canada.
