About the role#
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering is hiring a Structural Design Intern for a 12-week program during Summer 2027. This role supports transportation projects with a focus on bridge design. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience in the civil engineering field. The position is based on-site at our Norcross office.
What you'll do#
- Assist the lead engineer with maintaining archives of design files, drawings, and construction submittals.
- Collaborate with the team to develop designs, details, drawings, and specifications for transportation structures.
- Perform internal quality control for construction drawings, design calculations, and specifications.
- Learn to analyze and design structural components for bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
- Apply AASHTO and other relevant design specifications to your work.
What you'll need#
- Active pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering, with preference given to academic Juniors and Seniors.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite and strong computer literacy.
- Demonstrated research skills, resourcefulness, and mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
- Familiarity with MicroStation is preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and background screenings.
