About the role#
This internship provides exposure to the commercial underwriting process. You will work alongside experienced underwriters to learn about risk evaluation, insurance operations, and strategic decision-making. You will contribute to projects that support business objectives and customer needs while gaining hands-on experience in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with underwriting activities for Commercial Auto and Businessowners lines of business.
- Support the completion of policy renewals, endorsements, quotes, and other transactions.
- Analyze market opportunities and industry trends.
- Participate in special projects involving underwriting guidelines, process improvements, and emerging business opportunities.
- Review claim data and help develop recommendations for policy or procedural enhancements.
- Evaluate underwriting materials to ensure they are current and effective.
- Collaborate with underwriting professionals and gain exposure to business decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and evaluating complex situations.
- Ability to learn new systems, technology, and processes quickly.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Willingness to work independently and take initiative.
- Confidence sharing ideas, offering recommendations, and making decisions.
- A desire to continuously learn and approach problems from multiple perspectives.
