About the role#
As a Life Actuary Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry. You will work alongside professionals to develop the technical and analytical skills needed for an actuarial career. This role is a part-time position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Learn about life insurance products, such as term life, whole life, interest-sensitive life, fixed annuities, and payout annuities.
- Use actuarial modeling software to update assumptions, run scenarios, and validate results.
- Compile and analyze data for mortality, lapse, and new business distribution studies.
- Create controls and trend analyses to support pricing, valuation, and financial planning.
- Support reinsurance strategy by monitoring results, researching treaties, and compiling data.
- Prepare reports, charts, and presentations to communicate your findings and recommendations.
- Document methodologies and assumptions to support reporting processes.
- Collaborate with team members to share information and suggestions.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to conduct research and maintain detailed documentation.
- Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries (SOA) exam is preferred.
- A collaborative mindset and attention to detail.
