About the role#
The RE-MASTER CITRUS Innovation Intern will join the team at the Citrus Innovation Center to support applied collaboration and accelerate citrus-based innovation projects. This role involves working alongside beverage designers and flavorists to gain hands-on experience in flavor design, formulation, and lab operations. You will contribute to both existing product optimization and new product development while building foundational skills in the citrus flavor portfolio.
What you'll do#
- Support daily lab operations, including sample preparation, batching, and formulation.
- Assist in citrus flavor development and applications across food and beverage systems.
- Prepare samples for internal tastings, sensory panels, and customer submissions.
- Document experiments, formulations, and results following R&D best practices.
- Participate in tasting sessions and provide sensory feedback.
- Maintain lab organization, including inventory management and material handling.
- Conduct basic lab procedures, such as preparing intermediates and finished flavors.
- Support product evaluation and stability testing.
- Ensure compliance with lab safety standards, GMPs, and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a college or university, with a preference for sophomore status or above in a Bachelor’s program or early-stage Master’s student.
- Pursuing a degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Human Nutrition, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory practices and food safety principles.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to pass an internal sensory assessment.
- Ability to work a minimum of 16 hours per week, with availability for up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions.
