About the role#
IEWC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position provides hands-on experience in process development, documentation, and new product introduction. You will work directly with engineering and assembly teams to support production success and gain practical knowledge of manufacturing workflows.
What you'll do#
- Review customer drawings, prints, and engineering documentation.
- Identify critical-to-quality features and translate them into manufacturing tasks.
- Support the NPI team by verifying bill of materials accuracy and preparing documentation for pilot builds.
- Work alongside assembly technicians to observe and document process steps.
- Create work instructions, checklists, and process documentation.
- Coordinate materials, tools, and resources for engineering trials.
- Maintain project timelines and update status tracking.
- Document process findings, improvement opportunities, and test results.
- Provide floor support during build validations.
- Collect data on production efficiency, quality, and cycle times.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities under the guidance of engineers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Exposure to engineering drawings, manufacturing concepts, or hands-on technical coursework.
- An analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and shop floor teams.
