About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Electrical Engineering internship based in Sussex, Wisconsin, for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site, gaining hands-on experience by assisting engineers with custom industrial control panel projects from the initial design phase through manufacturing release.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of power distribution and control circuits.
- Review customer specifications and engineering requirements.
- Select electrical components such as relays, transformers, and circuit protection devices.
- Perform electrical calculations and engineering evaluations.
- Create and update electrical schematics and panel layouts using EPLAN.
- Prepare accurate engineering documentation for the production floor.
- Learn to apply industry standards like UL 508A and NEC to your designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to resolve design questions during fabrication.
- Support electrical testing and troubleshooting of completed control panels.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for design and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with Sophomore or Junior standing.
- Coursework or practical experience with power distribution and basic electrical circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics or a strong willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with electrical components like transformers, relays, and circuit breakers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Previous CAD experience, specifically with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, is a plus.
