About the role#
The AI Center of Excellence is seeking a Software Developer Intern to design and build AI solutions. You will work with the IBM watsonx platform and pretrained models like Granite to create scalable applications on IBM Cloud. You will join a team that turns ideas into real-world solutions through collaboration and technical development.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test AI applications and services.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while following security best practices.
- Communicate project progress, technical decisions, and challenges to stakeholders.
- Participate in agile and scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning and stand-ups.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers, architects, and technical account managers to integrate AI components.
- Stay current on emerging trends in generative AI and IBM Cloud services.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience as a full stack developer with a focus on AI.
- Knowledge of backend technologies including Node.js, Python, and Java.
- Experience with databases such as Cassandra or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in web technologies like HTTP, REST, JSON, HTML, Ajax, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch, Hugging Face, or OpenAI API.
- Understanding of LLM prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Working knowledge of IBM watsonx and IBM Cloud Infrastructure is preferred.
- Experience with model deployment and fine-tuning using Granite, Mistral, or Llama 3.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, micro-services architecture, and messaging brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Familiarity with operating systems like Red Hat or Ubuntu and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
