About the role#
IBM is hiring Software Developer Interns for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside experienced developers to design, build, and test software for cloud, AI, and hybrid-platform solutions. This role is open to students who want hands-on experience in real-world projects and modern development practices.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, development, testing, and debugging of software in front-end, back-end, or full-stack environments.
- Work with various programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, Go, Rust, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Build user interfaces using frameworks like React and contribute to back-end services and APIs.
- Use Git and other version-control tools.
- Work with cloud and container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and REST APIs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Explore emerging technologies like AI/ML, automation, and cloud-native development.
What you'll need#
- Coursework or project experience in software development using any programming language.
- Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, or debugging.
- Exposure to front-end or back-end technologies such as React, Node.js, Python, Java, or SQL.
- Experience with Git or similar version control tools.
- Interest in cloud computing, containers, or modern deployment practices.
- Experience with cloud services like IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and databases, including relational or NoSQL systems.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or automation tools.
- Understanding of Agile development methods.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and learn quickly in a team setting.
- Personal or open-source projects that demonstrate creativity.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
