About the role#
As a Software Developer Intern in the Infrastructure department, you will design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise software solutions. Your work supports products across hybrid cloud, storage, data protection, automation, security, and systems management. You will work with cross-functional teams to build scalable and secure applications that help clients manage their IT environments.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
- Write and maintain high-quality code for applications, services, APIs, and backend components.
- Collaborate with architects, quality assurance, and operations teams to deliver solutions.
- Troubleshoot software defects and performance issues.
- Contribute to technical design reviews and code reviews.
- Create technical documentation, test plans, and operational procedures.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Support agile processes by participating in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in one or more languages like Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript.
- Understanding of software design principles, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with Git, Linux/Unix environments, and command-line tools.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of databases, cloud computing, and containerization.
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker.
- Understanding of software testing, debugging, and performance analysis.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud platforms, cybersecurity, or enterprise infrastructure.
- Familiarity with AI/ML, automation, or SRE practices.
- Interest in IBM technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift or IBM Cloud.
