About the role#
As a Software Developer Intern within IBM Infrastructure, you will build software solutions that support hybrid cloud, storage, data protection, and security products. You will join cross-functional teams to help clients modernize and manage their IT environments. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software using modern engineering practices.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
- Collaborate with architects, product management, quality assurance, and operations teams.
- Build scalable, secure applications, services, APIs, and backend components.
- Troubleshoot software defects and performance issues.
- Contribute to technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
- Create technical documentation, test plans, and operational procedures.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Participate in agile processes including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in at least one language such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and design principles.
- Experience with Git, Linux/Unix environments, and command-line tools.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of databases, cloud computing, containerization, and CI/CD.
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker is helpful.
- Interest in storage, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, or AI/ML automation.
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and SRE practices.
- Knowledge of IBM technologies, Red Hat OpenShift, or IBM Cloud is a plus.
