About the role#
IBM is looking for a Software Developer Intern to join the OneIT team in Rochester. You will work on enterprise-scale software projects, build backend systems, and learn from experienced engineers. This is a full-time internship role.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data integrations.
- Work with front-end developers, architects, and product managers.
- Write clean, documented, and efficient code.
- Participate in testing, debugging, and code reviews.
- Help deploy and monitor backend applications in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Learn and apply software engineering best practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Python, Java, JavaScript, or Golang.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Git for version control.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, TCL, APDL, or Java.
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with a team.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
