About the role#
IBM Quantum is looking for interns to help develop a large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer. You will focus on the software components that orchestrate low-level quantum job execution. This role involves improving the local developer experience for automated bringup and integration testing.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement Bazel-based build and test workflows for runtime framework components.
- Develop and maintain local Kubernetes environments like K3s or Minikube to reproduce production-like test scenarios.
- Containerize and automate integration test pipelines using Docker.
- Work with runtime, compiler, and systems software teams to identify and close gaps in the developer experience.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Rust and Docker.
- Proficiency with Git, Linux, and command-line environments.
- Experience with Bazel or other hermetic build systems.
- Familiarity with local Kubernetes environments, CI/CD pipelines, and integration testing frameworks.
- Experience with observability systems such as Prometheus, MQTT, and Grafana.
- Knowledge of quantum computing concepts.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
