About the role#
IBM Quantum is looking for students to help build a large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer. You will join the team to work on a prototype distributed runtime software environment. This system executes programs for next-generation quantum computing hardware.
What you'll do#
- Integrate existing High-Performance Computing tools into the distributed runtime environment.
- Create software and automation tools for data collection and analysis.
- Debug program execution within a prototype distributed control system test environment.
- Work alongside compiler, system modeling, and FPGA development teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Rust, C/C++, Git, Linux, and command-line environments.
- Experience with container technologies like Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with HPC tools such as Slurm, OpenMPI, OpenMP, or dsh.
- Experience with observability systems including Prometheus, MQTT, and Grafana.
- Knowledge of quantum computing concepts.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies and work across different disciplines.
