About the role#
As a QA/Test Engineer Intern within IBM Infrastructure, you will help ensure the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise software. You will work with developers, architects, and product teams to build testing strategies, automate coverage, and drive quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Design and execute functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end test plans.
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and suites to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with product teams to ensure quality is integrated into the development process.
- Identify, document, and track software defects through to resolution.
- Validate new features, enhancements, and bug fixes against requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, and agile activities.
- Perform root cause analysis on defects to drive corrective actions.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing and quality gates.
- Monitor quality metrics and suggest improvements to testing tools and methodologies.
- Create and maintain test documentation, validation reports, and quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies, test design, and quality assurance.
- Experience with manual and automated test execution.
- Proficiency in at least one language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Shell scripting.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks, defect tracking tools, and Git.
- Experience with Linux/Unix command-line environments.
- Understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker.
- Familiarity with storage, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, or infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of performance, scalability, and security testing.
- Experience with API and UI automation, service virtualization, and SRE concepts.
- Familiarity with IBM Infrastructure technologies and hybrid cloud platforms.
