About the role#
The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) team develops software and Agentic AI solutions to design and verify IBM processors and computing systems. You will work on logic design, verification, synthesis, routing, and timing analysis. This role sits at the center of how IBM uses Agentic AI to transform semiconductor development.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with experienced engineers on real problems at the intersection of software, AI, and chip design.
- Gain exposure to Agentic AI and machine learning techniques applied to chip design workflows, including synthesis and place-and-route automation.
- Contribute to software tools that support logic design, functional verification, timing analysis, and physical design.
- Develop algorithms and software solutions that improve design quality and accelerate chip development.
- Partner with engineers across IBM zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Computing to tackle challenging technical problems.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, or Rust.
- Exposure to Python or other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and digital logic design.
- Coursework or exposure to AI or Agent Engineering.
- Familiarity with computer architecture, microarchitecture, and digital or VLSI semiconductor design concepts.
- Exposure to Linux development environments and software engineering practices like testing and version control.
- Familiarity with GenAI, ML frameworks, or AI-assisted software development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in collaborative environments.
