About the role#
IBM is hiring Hardware Developer Interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Rochester, Minnesota. You will work on hardware, firmware, and semiconductors for systems including IBM zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Systems.
What you'll do#
- Develop, test, and provide customer support for hardware products.
- Participate in logic (RTL) design and verification.
- Contribute to physical design and analog/IO design.
- Assist with electronic design automation.
- Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and analysis.
- Engage in circuit and electrical design tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- At least three months of experience designing or manufacturing hardware products.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and architectures like FPGAs, RISC-V, ARM, MIPS, or x86.
- Proficiency in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience with programming languages like C, C++, C#, Python, or Java.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools like SPICE, CAD tools, and 3D modeling.
- Coursework in VLSI design, microprocessors, or signal integrity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A team-focused, resourceful, and outcome-oriented mindset.
