About the role#
IBM is looking for interns to join our Infrastructure and Technology teams in Poughkeepsie. You will work on the compute platforms that power AI, cloud, and enterprise technologies. This role involves hands-on work with hardware bring-up, system design, prototyping, and process development across our high-performance systems portfolio.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with teams to design, model, and validate hardware and firmware.
- Participate in power electronics development, firmware development, and system bring-up.
- Run experiments, analyze data, and contribute to reliability and materials development projects.
- Write scripts and automation tools using Python, C/C++, or Bash to support testing and validation.
- Work in focus areas such as electrical and logic design, firmware, and automation.
What you'll need#
- Current B.S. or M.S. student in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Materials, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Interest in hardware design, firmware, optics, logic, process, or materials engineering.
- Experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Allegro, or Cadence.
- Experience with simulation tools such as CFD, FEM, or HFSS.
- Programming experience in Python, C/C++, or Bash.
- Hands-on experience with lab tools like LabVIEW, MATLAB, oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, or optical test equipment.
- Familiarity with design of experiments or project management in a lab environment.
- M.S. or Ph.D. students with a research focus in electrical packaging, photonics, signal integrity, thermal design, or firmware are encouraged to apply.
