About the role#
Fujitsu is hiring a Software Engineering Co Op for the Fall 2026 term. This part-time role supports the MSBU PSE team in Texas. You will work on-site and gain experience in optical networking through mentorship and hands-on projects. The pay range for this position is $22 to $30 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of software components for optical networking platforms.
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and agile development ceremonies.
- Support debugging and troubleshooting efforts across software and hardware interfaces.
- Contribute to documentation and automation tasks to improve development workflows.
- Learn and apply best practices in embedded systems and network software development.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with C/C++ programming in systems or embedded contexts.
- Experience with or a willingness to learn Linux-based development environments.
- Exposure to version control systems like Git and a basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- A strong desire to learn wireless and a passion for using Python to automate lab test procedures.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn in a collaborative team environment.
- Interest in networking technologies and embedded systems.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Rust is a plus.
- Bonus points for academic projects related to networking or telecommunications, or familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Docker, or Kubernetes.
