About the role#
The IBM Cost Optimization team is looking for a Data Scientist Intern to join the OneIT department. You will work with a multidisciplinary group to identify opportunities that optimize costs and improve business processes. This role involves partnering across finance, supply chain, product management, and engineering teams to drive improvements within Systems.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and work through innovative cost-optimization opportunities.
- Develop business cases that include competitive benchmarking.
- Use AI tools, financial analysis, and data science methods to support process improvements.
- Drive process improvements across Systems teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Data Science, Cost Engineering, Product Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience or project work in cost-related roles that required cross-team collaboration.
- Exposure to fields such as supply chain, manufacturing, development, or finance.
- Practical experience with programming and scripting tools.
- Direct experience in Cost Engineering, specifically regarding hardware offerings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A resourceful and outcome-focused approach to work.
