About the role#
As a Cloud Developer Intern, you will work on the infrastructure that powers IBM Cloud. You will research new cloud technologies, build prototypes, and support the systems that keep our compute infrastructure running. This role requires collaboration with program managers and technical teams to ensure our services remain secure and reliable.
What you'll do#
- Implement and automate infrastructure solutions for IBM Cloud products.
- Build and set up test automation and pipeline frameworks in Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
- Administer automated CI/CD systems for development and testing teams.
- Support the security and compliance of our cloud environment.
- Partner with teams to develop monitoring and alerting for mission-critical services.
- Enhance existing compute infrastructure capabilities.
- Provide technical escalation support for infrastructure operations.
- Research new cloud technology products and build quick prototypes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Prior experience through projects or internships in development, computer hardware, or testing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in at least one operating system such as Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS Linux, or Windows Servers.
- Experience with virtualization technologies like Citrix Hypervisor, VMware vSphere, or Ubuntu KVM.
- Programming skills in languages such as Java, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Familiarity with infrastructure tools like Active Directory, Ansible, or Chef.
- Experience with container technologies including Kubernetes and Docker.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Zabbix or Splunk.
- Working knowledge of network and storage technologies.
- Experience with collaboration tools like ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub.
