About the role#
As a Cloud Developer Intern, you will work within the Infrastructure and Technology department to support the IBM Cloud platform. This role involves researching cloud technologies and building prototypes to advance our infrastructure services. You will work with a team to maintain the security and efficiency of our systems.
What you'll do#
- Implement and automate infrastructure solutions for IBM Cloud products.
- Build and set up test automation and pipeline frameworks using OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Administer automated CI/CD systems for development and test teams.
- Support the security and compliance integrity of the environment.
- Collaborate with managers and program managers to develop monitoring and alerting for mission-critical services.
- Enhance existing compute infrastructure services.
- Provide technical escalation support for Infrastructure Operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience through projects or internships in software development and cloud services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following areas:
- Operating systems like Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, or Windows Servers.
- Programming tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Infrastructure tools including Ansible or Chef.
- Container technologies like Kubernetes or Docker.
- Monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Splunk, Prometheus, or Sysdig.
- Network and storage technologies, including DNS and NTP.
- Collaboration and development tools like ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub.
- AI technologies used in the software development lifecycle.
